The Sale (Final Video Project)

Here is a link to the final video production I filmed for another course this quarter. I wanted to reflect on the experience, as working with a full production crew was something I hadn’t gotten the opportunity to do before. It was an eye opening process and one that reminded me a ton about this course. Since there wasn’t a single individual in the production who had worked on a video prior to the course, we were all considered very new to the whole thing, and since I primarily take still images, it was the first time I really had to work the camera and the setting together. More importantly, and in relation to this course, we were pressed with how to make the images look, shot direction, mood, etc. Since this was a drama and I have very rarely composed dramatic images, we resulted in watching prior films in the likes of Tarantino and Scorsese to “mimic” shot direction from.

I was directly involved in the Remix Culture and it hadn’t occurred to me until after we produced the film.

I became so interested that I enrolled in another production course just for the giggles

Quick how to – Photoshop Flooding

Since the last few posts have been about my goal of only sharing images that have happened as the camera sees, in an attempt to promote authenticity… I have decided to show you all a simple way of creating the illusion of flooding.

In this case I used an image of Stonehenge that I took summer 2016 and showed you how to quickly transform it to as if the world had magically flooded and a portion of the monument was underwater.

Im doing so to show you all how easy it is to alter an image into something that’s more or less believable. I can see the headline on national enquirer now “FLASH FLOOD TERRORIZES 7th WONDER OF THE medieval WORLD”

Facing fears

As a sufferer of basiphobia (Fear of FALLING) I decided to do the unthinkable and face that fear in the name of creativity. I decided to visit the newly renovated Space Needle, complete with a 360° view of Seattle below. The first image is something I never thought possible, I get scared climbing a few stairs let alone pressed against a window pane over 500′ from the safety of the ground. The second is a raw image from my stunning iPhone XS and shows the sheer beauty that is the Seattle skyline. With the crown jewel- Columbia Center in the southmost distance, towering at a remarkable 967′. On a clear day you can see Mt. Rainier from the observation deck I am standing on.

Photoshop Blemish Removal Tutorial ( NO Audio)

Below I have attached a short video of how to successfully edit blemishes with two separate tools in Photoshop.  I use the most updated version of Photoshop CC for all of these instructional videos.

The spot healing brush tool and the clone stamp tool. The spot healing tool auto visualizes the area you are wanting to edit, and renders a “fix” based on composition, texture, etc.

Clone stamp tool takes a copied area of pixels within the image and allows users to “paste” over the blemish areas.
